2022/2023 BMHA Registration
Online registration will open on
Wednesday, June 1, 2022. Please take the time to review this entire Article.
The BMHA is notifying our families of the following for the 2022-2023 hockey season:
1. There will no longer be gate fees at OMHA sanctioned games. The OMHA announced the decision at the end of last season. As a result, most centres who charged a gate fee will lose out on income that is used predominantly to pay for referees, gate keepers, and time keepers. To give you a better understanding, on average during one season we spend anywhere from $20,000.00 to $25,000.00 on referees, gate keepers, and time keepers. Anything over and above that is used to offset the cost of registration fees; and
2. The Municipality of Central Elgin has increased our hourly ice rate from $159.65 ($141.28 + hst) to $207.82 ($183.91 + hst). That is an increase of over 20%!
As a result of the above and in order for our families to better prepare themselves, the BMHA is advising that we will need to increase each participant’s registration fee for the 2022-2023 hockey season. In addition to this, we will also be bringing back and implementing the following:
1. Lottery Tickets will be returning. One book per family in the amount of $150.00;
2. Try Out Fees. This is new this year and any player registering that would like to try out for a representative team will now be required to pay a non-refundable try out fee of $50.00. This fee will help to pay for the ice rental and guarantees each player two ice times;
3. Representative Fee (“Rep Fee”). Any player who makes a representative team will be required to pay a $100.00 Rep Fee. This fee will assist in paying the rep teams registration fees with Shamrock, as well as scheduling fees, and extra ice rental during playdowns at the end of the hockey season; and
4. Late Registration Fee. After June 30, 2022, for those players not already registered will be charged a late fee of $100.00.
A lot of changes for the 2022-2023 hockey season. If you have any further questions regarding the above, please just reach out to an Executive member on the BMHA and they will be happy to help.
Thank you.
