Rangers Storm Through The Weekend
The B's were itching to get back to game play on Friday when they were told that their first playoff game had been postponed due to weather.  After the moans had settled they reluctantly practiced one last time before their weekend marathon began.  The kids were antsy and the coaches were trying hard to be patient with them and their extra energy.  Saturday morning came and everyone was at the rink in Embro early and ready to go.

After a very well played game that had the Rangers outplay their opponents for the better part of the game, the score was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation.  Here comes the shootout!  Ayr shot first and just slipped the puck past goaltender Gavin.  But that was it as he shut the door on the next two shooters to secure the shootout victory.  Luke blistered his first shot past the goalie and Ryan S. went top shelf for the shootout winner.

After a huge high for the B's, you knew sometime they would have to come down to earth.  The second game had the Rangers playing against a tough Paris team.  They played tough through the first half of the game and had a 2-0 lead with goals by Reid.  Reid was on a breakaway and was about to make the score 3-0 when the Paris goalie made an unbelievable save that the coaches and fans still aren't sure how.  Even the photo evidence was inconclusive.  That seemed to take the wind out of the B's sails and the Paris team fought back for a 5-2 win.  That meant the B's were in the B final against the talented team from New Hamburg.  The kids learned from their experience, they came out hard for the B final and didn't give their opponent any space or time.  They won their battles and skated away from Embro with a 6-1 victory and the B championship.

This was only the beginning as they still had a date with a tough opponent from Lambton Shores in Thedford on Sunday afternoon.  With 10 playoff rookies on the roster you would think that nerves might be an issue.  But that wasn't the case as the B's were calm and cool while they skated out of the first period with a 2-0 lead with goals by Luke and Gavin.  This was Gavin's first of the season which officially has every player on the team scoring this season.  Way to go B's.  Both teams fought hard the rest of the way and with two more goals by Luke for the hat trick, 2 by Tom and 1 from Reid the Rangers escaped their first playoff game with a 7-2 victory.

We will travel back to Thedford on Tuesday for game 2 of the series.  Go Rangers Go!
