Representative "Rep" Hockey 2022/2023 Season
There have been several questions concerning representative teams for the upcoming season.

This year’s registration is showing that some of our age groups (more specifically our U15 and U18 age groups) are lacking in numbers when it comes to representative hockey.  This makes it very difficult for BMHA to decide whether we can field a competitive team this year.  OMHA will not allow BMHA to fold a team prior to an evaluation skate.

With that being said, it is very important that if your child is interested in playing representative hockey this year that you MUST register them with BMHA and pay the mandatory tryout fee for your child to attend the evaluation skate.

Please see OMHA’s rules and processes below regarding representative hockey:
1) If a Centre has 8 or more players interested in trying out for rep hockey, the Centre must hold an evaluation skate;
2) Players MUST be registered with their home organization and MUST attend the evaluation skate; and
3) If BMHA cannot field a rep team in a certain age group, then the 3.5 Rule will take into effect.  However, if you are not registered for rep hockey and fail to show up at the evaluation skate, your child will NOT be granted a 3.5 to play rep hockey in another Centre.  Please see OMHA Regulation 3.5 a) ii) below:

                   A player may tryout only at their NEXT CLOSEST CENTRE, provided that BMHA does not field a representative team in their division.  Determining your next closest Centre is based on the distance of your residence to the Associations “Centre Point”.

With the new pathways introduced, BMHA will be offering conditioning skates prior to evaluations and tryouts.  No Centre is permitted on the ice for evaluations and tryouts until after Labour Day weekend. We are awaiting confirmation from OMHA as to when we can officially begin the conditioning skates (with evaluations and tryouts to follow).

Should you have any further questions regarding the above or our hockey program, please reach out to Sandy Richardson.
