Position Title: Timekeeper – Minor Hockey
Reports to: Referee and Timekeeping Director
The timekeeper is responsible for operating the time clock, recording game details, and supporting on-ice officials to ensure accurate and fair game management.
Qualifications:
Essential Skills & Knowledge
- Understanding of hockey rules, penalties, and game flow.
- Ability to operate arena scoreboard and timing systems (training provided)
- Accurate recording of goals, assists, and penalties on official electronic gamesheets
- Ability to multitask and stay focused during fast-paced play
- Professional communication with referees, coaches, and other official
Personal Attributes
- Punctual, dependable, and prepared for all assigned games
- Calm under pressure
- Adherence to the organization’s code of conduct and zero-tolerance policies
- Respectful toward all players, coaches, officials, and spectators
Experience & Training
- Previous timekeeping experience preferred but not required
- Familiarity with Hockey Canada, OMHA and local league rules an asset.
Other Requirements
- Minimum age: 13
- Availability for evenings and weekends as scheduled.
- Preference for active BMHA players or families
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Arrive 30 minutes before game start to set up game sheets
- Operate scoreboard and manage game clock according to league rules
- Record all goals, assists, penalties, and other events accurately
- Work closely with referees to confirm calls and game sheet accuracy
- Submit completed game sheets immediately after the game
- Report any issues or incidents to the Timekeeping Director
