Rangers Take Wind Out Of Sailors Sail
Back in the comfort of our own surroundings we awaited our friends from Central Elgin via Pt Stanley to the Community Centre. Not only a municipality rivalry, but also bragging rights amongst a few school mates at Southwold Public School.
The buzz in the dressing room before the game was that this was a must win for two reasons. Dylan Watson and Noah Szabo go to school with a vast majority of the Sailors and it was also Ben "Slim Shovel" Melady's birthday. Ben was away in Toronto so the boys wanted a win for him on his birthday. Another excellent display of team play by more than a dozen great passing plays! The Sailors never gave up as Belmont held onto a 1-0 lead after one period of play and it was 3-0 after two periods. The flood gates opened up in the third as the Rangers put seven more behind Logan Cummings who was between the pipes for the Sailors. Mr Cummings was absolutely stellar for the visiting team. Speaking of stellar, William Richardson stoned Lucan Friday night and did the same to Port when called upon!
